Because choreography is the intellectual property of the choreographer, Spirit in Motion requests that you follow the following video use policy:
- Performance videos may be posted publicly, however we would highly prefer that they are edited so that the routine is not shown in it’s entirety. Preferably so that less then half of the routine is shown.
- Videos containing instruction on how to dance Spirit in Motion routines are not to be shared publicly. This includes any videos taken during practice. Please take all reasonable steps to ensure that only current team members are able to access these videos.
We have found that the following tips maximize the effectiveness of instructional videos:
- Have the dancers face a mirror wall while demonstrating
- Record the dancers from behind (dancers perspective)
- Whenever possible try to keep the dancers, and their reflections, in the frame
- When not possible to keep both the dancers and their reflections in the frame, only record the dancers
- When it is not possible to keep the entire dancer in the frame (vertically), focus on their feet
- Start recording early, and end recording well after the demonstration has finished. It is easier to edit down a video then shoot it again.
