Happy Friday everyone! Each week we’ll be putting the spotlight on one of our own so you can get to know our team! Today’s featured member is: Allison!
**When did you join SIM and how many years have you been on team?
-My first year on SIM was 2016 for a total of 2 years.
**What has been your favorite SIM routine to perform? Which is your favorite routine to watch?
-As a follow: Nightclub two step/Hustle;
Lead: Foxtrot/Rumba;
Viewing pleasure: Competition team Latin.
Outside of SIM to perform: Out of Sight piece.
**Tell us about when you first started dancing.
-East coast swing/Lindy hop was my first joy in 2002 at the Ballroom of Sacramento, with my brother. After ten years off dance and knowing very little ballroom, I was accepted to join SIM at Spotlight Ballroom. I blame my brother for this highly intoxicating lifestyle. 🙂
**What is a fun fact we don’t know about you?
-Here are a couple for funsies: I went skydiving in 2007, and flew a Cessna in 2012. The sky brings me peace.
**What is your favorite dance and why?
-Bolero. I love how you feel a mesh of gracefulness from ballroom and sass from Latin. It’s a perfect blend of both worlds.
**What is your most favorite thing about being on SIM?
-Besides the wonderful instruction, I’ve met some genuine, wholesome friends on SIM.
**What has been a challenge for you as a dancer?
-Patience with my body and mind, and knowing in time I will progress and “level up”.
**How has being on SIM changed your dancing?
-Having to work on complex choreography with multiple partners has helped establish connection. I didn’t understand the importance of connection before. Also- “and” and “uh” are indeed numbers!
**What is the most important thing you’ve learned as a dancer?
-Patience in myself as well as other dancers will take me/us further as a partnership. Everyone is happier once patience is learned (Also a killer life lesson).
